Agency grateful for Shoebox for Seniors donations

-A A +A
By Sheryl Baker

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people who donated gifts to Shoebox for Seniors, a project sponsored by the Lancaster County Council on Aging.

All senior citizens who receive meals from the Council on Aging were provided a Christmas gift from Lancaster County residents. The gifts were donated by churches, schools and other organizations. The following donated shoeboxes this year: Bethel United Methodist Church, Lancaster Women’s Club, Kershaw Second Baptist Church (Senior Group), Hopewell United Methodist Church, Erwin Elementary Student Council, St. Luke United Methodist Church, Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Don & Ricki Phipps, Grace United Methodist Church, Haile’s Gold Mine Baptist Church (WMU), Buford Elementary School, Zion United Methodist Church, Covenant Baptist Church, A.R. Rucker Beta Club, Hillside Class of 1970, Sew Much Fun & Helping Hands from Sun City and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

I also want to say a special thank you to Bi-Lo and HOPE for their wonderful contributions during the Christmas season. Bi-Lo donated about 90 Holiday Hope bags and HOPE donated about 90 gift cards collected through the Christmas Basket Fund.

Thanks again to all the caring people in Lancaster County who made this a beautiful Christmas for a lot of senior citizens. Even with the failing economy and job closings this year, Lancaster County residents still reached deep into their hearts to help someone else. May God bless all of you.
