Adoption organizers grateful for support

-A A +A

The County of Lancaster Animal Welfare Support (CLAWS) adoption/donation drive at Lancaster Animal Control on Saturday was great. There may not have been as many people turn up as we would have liked, but those who came were very giving.
There were six adoptions – two cats, two kittens and two dogs. More than $200 in supplies was donated. More than $500 was also donated to CLAWS.
We would like to thank all those who contributed in any way for helping more pets of Lancaster County. Thanks to those who adopted and also HeavensOwn for rescuing a puppy from Lancaster Animal Control.
We are so happy with all the help. The only disappointment was that none of the County Council members came out to show support for the animal control officers at Lancaster Animal Control. These guys have the worst job and are always passed over and forgotten all too often. It would have been nice to see them supported by the decision-makers.
County Council really doesn’t understand all that goes on at animal control.
Deputy Administrator Jeff Naftal and his family did come by and we thank them. Administrator Steve Willis had an emergency with his own dog. We hope she’s doing well.
But, all in all, we had a great day. We are very grateful to all who helped and donated. We thank Jan Switzer for making and delivering the new CLAWS shirts in time.
We are very grateful to the animal control officers for staying extra hours to make this event possible.
We would also like to thank The Lancaster News, specifically Chris Lucas, Barbara Rutledge and Aaron Morrison, for all you do to help make a difference.
We thank Nutramax for its donations and support. It is a wonderful business and we welcome them to Lancaster.
