AAA stars solid in sub-district play

The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars continued their solid sub-district tournament play with a 6-1 win over Union National on Saturday in Chester.

The Lancaster AAA all-stars opened play Friday with a 14-3 win over Rock Hill.In the five-run win over Union National on Saturday, a trio of Lancaster hurlers combined to allow one hit, three walks and strike out four batters. Eric Miles, Gunnar Lucas and Dylan Robinson each worked two innings for the Lancaster AAA all-stars.“We produced the key hits and did a good job of getting down our bunts,” said Lancaster manager Mike Lucas.In two tournament games, Lancaster pitchers haven’t allowed any earned runs.“Our pitchers have done a great job in changing speeds, Lucas said. “That’s really been the key for our team’s play.”Eric Miles led the offense with two hits. Druw Rollings, Scottie Mosier and Chrystian Cox each had a hit for Lancaster.Lancaster sealed the win in the fourth inning when Miles and Mosier each drilled run-scoring doubles.In the win over Rock Hill on Friday, Darius Robinson lashed two hits, including a homer. Dylan Robinson and Miles each had two hits.The team returned to Chester on Tuesday night, seeking a win to move on to the district tournament next week in Union.The Lancaster AAA stars will play in a four-team field, if they advance to the district tournament. The district winner moves on to the state tournament July 19 in Hartsville.
