Sal and Lois Rao moved into their home at 1839 Tara Trail almost 20 years ago. Since that time they have steadily been improving the landscaping. Their front yard is now filled with mature azaleas growing freely under majestic hardwoods. A blend of small and large, single and double blooms, these azaleas create a colorful impact from early to late spring.

With the windows of the house almost covered in overgrown hollies, English ivy and the thorny spikes of ileagnes throughout the yard, the Bailes had to make a few choices.

That’s the case with Ronald and Susan First at 1954 Charles Avenue. The couple relocated to Lancaster from Erie, Pa. about two years ago when Ronald’s job brought them south. He was here about six months before Susan could come, so he began the search for a new home.

Dragon wing begonias steal the show at the home of Cain and Anita Thomason at 1049 Edgemont Drive in Lancaster. They also caught the eyes of Betsy Folks and Sheila Robertson, members of The Lancaster Garden Club, who selected the Thomason yard as the Yard of the Month for August.

It is filled with all the colors of summer including those vibrant pinks and oranges. Having a well kept yard filled with flowers has always been a passion for Cynthia. With flower gardens designed throughout the yard, Cynthia makes sure they are laden with a blend of color from perennials and annuals.

Stuart Graham creates a dream yard for his dream house

Growing up, Stuart Graham attended Van Wyck Presbyterian Church with his family.
Just two doors down from there stood a bright yellow home known throughout the tight knit community as the old Hyatt house.
At the time, Graham never realized the keys to the 1898 Victorian-style home at 5154 Old Hickory Road would one day be in his pocket.
Graham had always admired the house and was excited to learn in 2003 it was to be sold at an auction.
