All teams travel, but not too far for the 7:30 p.m. kickoffs.

AJ falls to 0-2

Panthers pound Volunteers in road win

By Kim Roberts

KERSHAW – Top-rated McBee scored early and often en route to a new scoring record at Andrew Jackson, handily defeating the Volunteers, 84-14 on Friday, Sept. 4.
The Panthers eclipsed the 73 points the Vols scored against Bethune in 1997.
Dashonnell Wright, who does everything for McBee except sell peanuts in the stands, started the scoring deluge with a 78-yard kickoff return for the opening score. Zach Middleton added the first of nine extra points for a quick 7-0 lead.

Warriors spear Wildcats, 38-7

INDIAN LAND – Playing an option offense team is a difficult task for any defense.
Many times, with all the fakes and misdirection, it’s difficult to know who has the ball.
Indian Land coach Michael Mayer admitted as much, saying “a team like Blacksburg is tricky, especially in the first couple of drives. You can’t replicate what they do in practice.”

Buford evens mark at 1-1

Jackets jolt Red Devils, 42-0

Opportunistic Buford High took advantage of a mistake-filled Great Falls team, blanking the winless Red Devils 42-0 to give Jackets’ coach Tripp Watts his first shutout as a coach Friday, Sept. 4.
Both teams had trouble holding on to the football with a combined 13 turnovers on the night.
Buford’s first four possessions resulted in one touchdown and three turnovers.
“We didn’t do a good job of taking care of the football,” Watts said.

By Robert Howey

The Lancaster Bruins’ 2015 home opener – a 35-14 win over Richland Northeast – resulted in a rush in the 48th season for Memorial Stadium on Friday, Sept. 4.
The 2-0 Bruins used their vaunted rushing attack to ground out the 21-point win over the Cavaliers, who fell to 0-2 with the road loss.
Lancaster, boosted by its stellar rushing attack, ignited in the third period to take control.
LHS, up 7-6 at the break, showed off the bat in the second half it was coming out swinging, uh, rushing.
