Horton opens Unique Hair Design-The School

Melissa Horton, who has been interested in styling hair since childhood, has now opened the first barber school in Lancaster.
At her professional styling salon, Unique Hair Design, 208 W. Meeting St., Horton has a desire to see barbers meet their fullest potential, she said.
“I got my start washing my grandma’s wigs in an old-time wringer-washer,” she said, laughing. “I’d hang the wigs on the clothesline to dry then spray them with starch which worked as good as hair spray. I was getting my grandma ready for revival meetings.”
