Jackson descendant brings ‘Old Hickory’ to life

By Kayla Vaughn

Andrew Jackson VI recalled Thursday evening a story he believed as a child of his direct ancestor and former U.S. president who shares his same name.
Jackson VI – a known descendant of Andrew Jackson Jr., who was the adopted son of President Andrew and Rachel Jackson – shared the story of his ancestors “infamous duel” with Charles Dickinson, leaving Jackson with a bullet permanently in his chest.
“It was years before I knew my grandfather did not kill the man who wrote ‘A Christmas Carol,’” he said.
